My daughter has a concussion, from October 2, 2012 … she was doing a double back flip dismount off the high bar in gymnastics and her grip broke. She hit her head on the bar, knocked herself unconscious and then fell on her head on the floor. She suffered a concussion and whiplash. She has been homeschooled this last year due to migraines, PCS, and neck pain. She is frustrated but not as depressed as I think I would be. We have been to neuropsychologists, neurologists, physiatrists, chiropractors, two rounds of physical therapy, acupuncture, neuro-optomeptrist, vision therapy, vestibular therapy… you get the idea. They found that her eyesight was knocked off by about one inch down and to the side. She wants to go back to school next year and I am trying to find just the right 504 so she can have at least some accomodations. She was a gymnast for 13 years, she misses it. She misses school. I don’t forsee her going back to her sport, but you never know. This is a great site, thank you for letting us know she isn’t the only long term concussion sufferer.
